As per FTA-1000.002 the number of FTSC members should be no less than 7 and no more than 30. Of the present 15 members, 7 of them had their term expire this year. That leaves room for a maximum of 30-(15-7)=22 members to be (re)elected. From FTS-1001.005 3.2 FTSC Standing Members ------------------------- FTSC members are appointed for a two year renewable term. [50 % of appointments on initial formation of the FTSC shall be for a 3 year renewable term, to ensure continuity of the Committee on expiry of the terms.] To be selected as a FTSC member, an individual must be a Fidonet node, and should be actively involved in Fidonet. Examples include having put out a Fidonet-related product or having updated a product in the preceding two years, or having experience as a Coordinator, Echomail Coordinator or mail or file Hub. Standing members may be nominated Fidonet-wide by all of the following methods: 1. Any RC or REC. 2. A nominating committee established for the purpose by the FTSC. 3. A nominating committee established for the purpose by the ZCC. A nominating committee may not consist of any current member or officer of the FTSC. Standing members are appointed on the basis of a vote by all RCs and RECs who are nodelisted as holding those positions at the time the nominations are published. A successful candidate must receive approval by a majority of votes. Publication of the nomination and the voting procedure, and posting of RC and REC votes, shall take place openly in the FTSC_PUBLIC echo, and voting shall close three weeks after publication of the vote. The status of RC's and REC's will be determined by nodelist.310 for Z2 FIDONEWS 28-45 Page 3 7 Nov 2011 and for the other zones by nodelist.308 as issued by the ZC in the zone where they reside. All RCs, RECs and members of a nominating committee are hereby invited to nominate members. Nominations may be posted in the FTSC_PUBLIC echo or in netmail/e-mail to the FTSC adminstrator. (2:2/20, 2:280/5555 or administrator at ftsc dot org) Nominations received by netmail or e-mail will be posted in FTSC_PUBLIC. Nominations start at Sunday, 6 November 2011. 20:00 UTC and end at Sunday 20 November 2011, 20:00 UTC. Nominators are advised to sound out prospective nominees before filing a nomination. There is little or no point in nominating someone that has not shown interest and expressed willingness to accept. Andre Grueneberg of 2:2411/525 made a binkp connection over IPv6 with the system of Benny Pedersen at 2:230/0. Well, it may not really be the first, others may have experimented in silence, but this was the first that was publicly announced in the IPV6 echo, so I will award the honour to them. Here are the log snippets as published in the IPV6 echo: From the sender: + 01 Nov 23:05:46 [7935] call to 2:230/0@fidonet 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] trying 2001:16d8:dd00:137::2... 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] connected + 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] outgoing session with home.junc.org (24554) - 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] OPT CRAM-MD5-9b723292e4943d4bf1c7dc6162fddb32 + 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] Remote requests MD mode - 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] SYS xpoint at home.junc.org - 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] ZYZ Benny Pedersen ... + 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] done (to 2:230/0@fidonet, OK, S/R: 1/0 (1254/0 bytes)) 01 Nov 23:05:47 [7935] session closed, quitting... 01 Nov 23:05:48 [25443] rc(7935)=0 From thge receiver: ----- qico.log begins ----- 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: answering incoming call 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: remote is 0.0.0.0 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: starting inbound Binkp session 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: address: 2:2411/525@fidonet 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: aka: 2:2411/526@fidonet 2:2411/1@fidonet 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: aka: 2:2411/3@fidonet 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: system: Blackhole 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: from: Blankenfelde, Germany 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: sysop: Andre Grueneberg 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: phone: -Unpublished- 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: flags: [115200] TCP,BINKP 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: mailer: binkd/1.0ipv6-106/Linux binkp/1.1 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: time: 23:05:47, unknown 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: for us: 1254b mail, 0b files 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: we have: 0b mail, 0b files 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: options: Binkp/MB/MD5 FIDONEWS 28-45 Page 6 7 Nov 2011 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: start recv: b1954c43.pkt, 1254 bytes, estimated time 00:00:01 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: rcvd: b1954c43.pkt, 1254 bytes, 1254 cps [ok] 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: total: 0:00:00 online, 0b sent, 1254b received 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: session with 2:2411/525 successful [ok] 01 Nov 11 23:05:47 binkp[14405]: exiting with rc=0 ----- qico.log ends ----- Andre did the programming to add IPv6 to binkd. As I learned Monday last week, he died on the 18th of October. His system went off-line around the 15th of October. Knowing that Hans had serious health problems, I feared the worst, especially since his web server and his e-mail server were also down, so e-mail was bounced. Plus that his telephone number - at least the number I had - apparently was cancelled. So I was worried, but could not get confirmation until last Monday whan I obtained a copy of the newsletter of the church where he was a member. Hans was a dedicated FidoNet member for a very long time. I first found him in nodelist.006 of 1995. Hans was diagnosed with diabetes. The bad kind. about a year ago, his eyes and kidneys were so bad that he could no longer participate in Fidonet and he cancelled his node number. To our great delight, he asked for a relisting a few month later. His condition had improved, and he wanted to participate again. Nevertheless, his life was very restricted because of the dialysis. On October 5th he had a stroke and was hospitalised. For a week it was up and down, but then his condition detoriated to the point that he had to let go. Rest in peace Hans, we will miss you. If you could type it on your keyboard, it's probably quite OK. No line may be longer than 70 characters. b) Put a title to the article. Put the title in two times. The first time, on the first line, with an * before it. The second time, on the second line, without the * and centered. This will help in the format since the title with the * is removed and used in the index, the second line will become the headline. On the third line, put your name and FidoNet address, present or former. If former, you may want to add some other address where you can be reached for personal comments. c) Deadline for article submission is Sunday, 22:00 UTC. Help the Editor by following the above guides. Below are some subjects and the file extension for the article as set in the configuration file for the making of the Fidonews. Please help by putting the file extension of the correct subject on the file name if known.
